Christmas and emergency help for families in Noble County

We're a 501(c)(3) charity in Albion, Indiana. Every year, neighbors take a tag off one of our trees and make sure a local kid wakes up to something new on Christmas morning.

Where it all started

How it all started

In 1987 a baby girl was born in our town weighing almost two pounds. Her parents couldn't afford Christmas with all the NICU bills, so our Daisy Girl Scout troop stepped in.

The next year we added more kids across the county, of all ages. Our founder, Terrie Beckley, then took it on as a project of her own so the girls would never figure out who they were helping.

Our mission has grown with the community. We still help at Christmas, and we also help families who've been displaced and kids getting ready for a new school year, haircuts included.

We couldn't have kept this going for so long without you, our community, and God.

Ways we help

Families below or just above the poverty line can reach out to us for help in three ways.

Christmas

Every qualifying child gets toys and clothing. We believe every child should have a merry Christmas, whatever their parents' situation. When needed, they also receive:

  • A coat
  • Boots
  • Hat and gloves
  • Shoes
  • Hygiene products

Displacement

When a family is displaced by a fire, domestic abuse, or a foster placement, we help ease the stress of starting over. We also include a Bible, because we believe standing on the word of God helps rebuild a strong foundation.

  • Clothes
  • Shoes
  • Coats
  • Bedding
  • Hygiene products
  • Toys

Back to school

We want every kid to start the year with a backpack and the supplies they need. Generous local hairstylists donate their time for free haircuts, so kids can walk in on day one looking and feeling great.

Take a tag

The easiest way to help. Each tag on our trees is a real Noble County kid's wish list.

  2. Take a tagPick one that speaks to you. Grab a few if you can.
  3. Buy the giftShop for what's written on the tag.
  4. Attach the tag to the giftPlease don't wrap it. We need to check sizes and sort gifts by child.
  5. Drop it off at any treeIt doesn't have to be the same tree you took the tag from.

Adopt a kid or a family

Contact us and we'll match you with a child based on your preferences: boy or girl, age, and how many children. Each adoption needs at least one outfit and a few wish list items, plus a coat, boots, and shoes if needed.

Plan on $150–$200 per child

Give money

There are usually a lot of tags left at the end that nobody took. We use donated funds to go shopping and finish those kids' lists. Coats, boots, and shoes get left behind the most.
